HIV prevention with especially vulnerable young people: Case studies of success and innovation.

Abstract

The Safe Passages to Adulthood programme came up with five core principles for HIV/AIDS prevention in young people. These principles are: Putting the young person first; Promoting meaningful participation; A committment to rights; Promoting gender equity; and Tackling risk and vulnerability. This publication describes programmes in Argentina, Nigeria, Iran, India and Kenya whose work with especially vulnerable young people illustrates some or all of these five principles in action.
