Humanitarian Innovation and Evidence Programme (2013 - 2020): mapping of research and innovation outputs

A mapping of all the research and innovation outputs from the Humanitarian Innovation and Evidence Programme (HIEP)

Abstract

In 2013, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) created the Humanitarian Innovation and Evidence Programme (HIEP). The programme’s expected impact was that humanitarian actors use evidence and innovation in the design, financing, planning and delivery of humanitarian policies, programmes and practices to deliver effective responses in humanitarian crises. Before it closed in March 2020, HIEP funded a total of 27 projects which in turn generated 95 peer reviewed research publications, 14 impact evaluations, and supported the piloting and testing of 140 innovations. HIEP was judged by an independent evaluation to have had considerable success and established DFID as a key supporter of humanitarian evidence and innovation. In September 2020, DFID merged with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to become the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

This spreadsheet (open document format) lists all the research and innovation outputs (with links) from the projects that HIEP funded.
