Abstract
HelpAge International conducted a research dissemination workshop with gender and transport sector stakeholders to share the findings of the study conducted to assess whether gender mainstreaming in rural transport has had a transformative effect on women facing multiple forms of discrimination and exclusion in Tanzania. This report relates to the dissemination workshop held 9 May 2017 in Dar es Salaam. The participants endorsed the research findings and stressed the need to ensure equal opportunities and participation to all through the finalisation and implementation of the National Transport Policy of 2011. It further called for the Government to ensure that all performance agreement of contractors incorporate gender mainstreaming ensuring conditions at construction sites are favorable to both men and women and those with disabilities.
