Integrated Action Planning In Nepal: Spatial and Investment Planning in Urban Areas.

Abstract

Integrated action planning schedules investments in construction and land improvement actions, relates them to physical planning policies, involves stakeholders in the process, and concerns itself with how local government will finance its share of the costs. The execution of Integrated Action Planning in Nepal's municipalities began in 1992 as the result of an initiative by GTZ within the UDLE programme - a partnership with the appropriate Nepalese Government Ministry - aimed at strengthening the capacities of local governments. IAP is described as it is intended to work and then compared to its practice in 7 towns. Conclusions are reported here, along with detailed accounts of what was found in each of the towns.
