These are the proceedings of a workshop held in Nairobi, Kenya, 15-18 February 2000. The workshop was hosted by the Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility Programme (TSBF) and CABI African Regional Centre in collaboration with CABI Bioscience and the Natural Resources Institute.
