Interrogating China’s biotechnology revolution: contesting dominant science policy cultures in the risk society

Abstract

This chapter discusses the development and use of genetic engineering in China. It is suggested that the embrace of biotechnology is not as unequivocal as much global discourse suggests,a nd that biotechnology commercialized in China is not the undisputed success its advocates claim.
