Investigation of suitable dust suppressants for Low Volume Gravel Roads, Phase 1 Final Report
This research aims to determine the efficacy of non-proprietary products in reducing road dust pollution on gravel roads
Abstract
The ultimate goal of the research is to determine the efficacy of non-proprietary products in reducing road dust pollution on gravel roads in Nepal, in terms of social and economic impacts. The project made a literature study of the recent history of dust on roads, identified a number of potential suppressants and procured appropriate equipment for measuring dust. This report summarises the equipment trials and proposes a methodology and research matrix for a future phase of the project, where the effectiveness of suppressants will be measured and the potential effects of dust on rural communities will be assessed.
This work is part of the Applied Research on Rural Roads and Transport Services through Community Access Programmes in Africa and Asia (AFCAP2 and AsCAP)
