Livestock vulnerability in northern Kenya

Abstract

In the Turkana district of northern Kenya, erratic rains and droughts are decreasing access to water by pastoralist communities, and threatening their livelihood as livestock die from lack of water. This video shows how researchers supported by the Climate Change Adaptation in Africa program helped formulate strategies for these communities cope with droughts, for example, by implementing technologies to access water in new ways and using drought-resistant herds and crops.
