Mapping Calcretes in Inhambane Province, Mozambique for Sustainable Rural Access

Abstract

Calcretes are pedogenic materials where calcium carbonoate is precipitated out of soil water and groundwater. They are widely used in low volume road construction in Southern Africa and Australia. Known resources in Inhambane Province, Mozambique are limited, so it is important to find additional deposits.
