More Sweatshops for Africa? Pilot Results from an Experimental Study of Industrial Labor in Ethiopia (Policy Brief)

Abstract

A study comparing factory work with self-employment is outlined. Preliminary findings of a study in Ethiopia in which applicants for industrial jobs were randomly assigned to either the job, a self-employment program (of skills training and a cash grant), or neither, are presented.
