Abstract

An overview is given of multidimensional poverty, which embraces a diverse range of characteristics such as limited financial resources, material deprivation, social isolation, exclusion and powerlessness, and physical and psychological ill-being. A set of reading materials which discuss the competing rationales and operation of the concept of multidimensional poverty is listed, and a set of questions to guide reading is presented.
