Parivartan for Girls programme tools

Abstract

After success with boys, STRIVE partner ICRW-ARO drew on their extensive experience of gender-transformative programming to adapt the Parivartan sports-based intervention for girls. As Parivartan for Girls gets underway, ICRW-ARO shares a range of implementation tools; a Facilitator Guide; Modules; a Card Series on 'Engaging Adolescent Girls through Sports to Support Their Right to Education and Their Position in the Family and Society'; and a Fitness Training Guide. The toolkit is designed to encourage girls to play sport or take physical exercise. The project currently operates in Mumbai’s Shivajinagar slum community and aims to empower young women and adolescent girls, and to use sport as a springboard from which to change young peoples’ attitudes towards gender roles and gender-based violence.
