Phase 2 Country Report for Zambia.

Abstract

This report presents the results of a survey of the rural water sub sector in order to understand rural business livelihoods and supply chains and of the capacity of local government to enable and regulate the sub sector in Zambia. The objectives of the survey are: 1. To determine the capacity of Local government to enable and regulate small scale private sector participation; 2. To determine the capacity of SMEs and NGOs to provide services in the rural water sector; and 3. To determine the demand for guidelines among the different actors in the rural water sector.

The purpose of this Country Report is to present the results and key findings of the surveys. Based on the results, this report makes recommendations and conclusions that will help inform the multi-stakeholder working group in framing the best practice guidelines for use by the RWS actors.
