Planning for microbicide access in developing countries: Lessons from the introduction of contraceptive technologies.
Abstract
This document reviews the introduction histories of three novel contraceptives – intrauterine devices, implants and female condoms – and identifies 12 lessons which can be learned and applied to assist efforts to introduce vaginal microbicides in developing countries for the control of HIV infection.
