Progress on the path toward an AIDS vaccine

Abstract

This info sheet examines encouraging progress researchers have made in recent months toward the development of an HIV vaccine. These scientific advances include a clinical trial in Thailand demonstrating for the first time that a vaccine can prevent HIV infection in humans, the identification of more than 20 new broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV, and promising research showing that replicating vectors could provoke more effective immune responses against HIV than have so far been observed.
