Promoting a Pro-poor Pig Sector Development Policy in Viet Nam

Abstract

This paper introduces a PPLPI project in Viet Nam to develop pro-poor pig farming policies. Viet Nam was chosen as the representative for the Mekong region due to its high level of rural poverty, political climate and wealth of demographic data. These provide a good basis for PPLPI in the development of tools for ex ante and ex post analyses of impacts of pro-poor policy and institutional change. A summary of the main participants in the project is included, as is an account of the progress made to date and subsequent plans.
