Abstract

Using data from women's NGOs in Kebbi State, Nigeria, this study aims: 1. To describe the nature and activities of the women's organisations; 2. To examine how activities of these organisations can generate or mitigate gender conflict; and 3. To analyse the nature and dynamics of such gender related conflict. This paper was presented at 'Conflict Prevention and Peaceful Development: Policies to Reduce Inequality and Exclusion', a CRISE policy conference held on July 9-10, 2007 at Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford.
