Sierra Leone airport transfers project due diligence. Final report, 17 August 2009.

Abstract

Freetown is separated from Lungi airport by sea, and a variety of different modes of transport are involved in airport transfers. This report provides a list of seven water, air, and road companies currently involved in airport transfer, together with a list of the five shipping companies planning to be involved. An analysis of their shareholders, organization, and financial and technical structure is given based on interviews conducted in Sierra Leone and collection of information from local internet journals. Risks to the project are examined under the headings Competition and Sustainability, Safety, Infrastructure Issues, and ICF (Investment Climate Facility for Africa) Funding.

This resource was produced by TI-UP – a DFID-funded resource centre for technology, infrastructure and urban planning, managed by IMC Worldwide Ltd.
