Small Water Enterprises in Africa 3: Sudan. A study of small water enterprises in Khartoum.

Abstract

This report presents key findings about how to improve access to water in informal urban settlements by supporting small water enterprises. It includes an overview of the national water supply in Sudan, a study of water supply in Khartoum, and research on water supply settlements in informal urban poor settlements in Khartoum. Relationships between water and household poverty are considered, and the structure, role and function of SWEs discussed. Some recommendations for improving access to water in informal settlements are made.
