Sudan Country Study
Abstract
This study first outlines the social, economic and cultural frameworks underlying Sudanese migrants' propensity to remit funds, and gives details on the target population and the purported purposes for which money is remitted.
The case study begins with an introduction and then contains chapters as follows: Sudan: population, history and politics, early trends in remittances, the current Sudanese migrant population in Europe, economic background of migrants, reasons for remittances, the informal remittance systems, and finally, development leverage of informal remittances.
