Abstract
STRIVE partner KHPT (Karnataka Health Promotion Trust) is implementing the Samata project to increase rates of secondary school enrolment and completion among adolescent girls from marginalised communities in Bagalkot and Bijapur Districts of Karnataka State.
As a foundation for Samata, KHPT conducted a preliminary enumeration and survey of all high schools and high school students in the project’s districts. This report presents the findings, and identifies: factors that jeopardise adolescent girls’ chances of education; evidence of education’s contributions to social development and HIV prevention
