The ban that kills: the Vatican's allegations about condoms deny scientific fact and cost some people their lives.

Abstract

This article in the journal of the organization 'Catholics for Free Choice' describes the problem of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and the role that condoms play in its control. It argues that a paper (which at the time of writing was recently published) by the president of the Pontifical Council for the Family misinterprets the data, that the Catholic Church's opposition to condoms hinders HIV/AIDS control, and that it should support the promotion of condom use. It then describes the organization's 'Condoms4Life' campaign and its giving of awards to Catholic bishops who have supported its position.
