The environmental impact of metalliferous mining: Korea, Chile and Zimbabwe case studies. (CR/02/190N).

Abstract

This report provides some of the conceptual background to the MINDEC model. The report is structured along the lines of the risk assessment paradigm of source - pathway - receptor. Reference is made to examples of sources, pathways and receptors studied during field visits to Chile and Zimbabwe and a risk assessment methodology is demonstrated using a Korean case study of abandoned gold mine tailings.
