The Influence of Weather on the Risk of Preterm Birth in A Uk Population

Abstract

Preterm birth is the leading cause of infant mortality in developed countries and efforts to prevent or reduce its occurrence have been largely ineffective. An association between high temperatures and preterm labour has been reported in the literature. An exploration of the relationship between environmental factors and preterm birth should contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of why preterm births occur. This study investigates any associations between preterm birth and environmental factors, such as air pollution and various meteorological factors.
