The Rural Non-Agricultural Economy in Transition Countries: Findings from Armenia

Abstract

There is evidence that economic diversity in the countryside has the potential to foster local economic growth and alleviate the rural-urban income gap and rural poverty. The situation in Armenia is discussed based on findings from a survey conducted in June 2001.
