The Sustainable Development Goals: Will they deliver climate compatible development for vulnerable countries?

Abstract

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) held three national dialogues – in Colombia, Indonesia and Kenya – to provide a platform for developing country perspectives on how climate change should be integrated into the SDGs. The aim of the dialogues was to engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders from across government, civil society, academia and the private sector to explore the role of climate change in the SDGs, and how the SDGs can encourage climate compatible development. This paper captures the key arguments for and against the inclusion of climate change within the goals, as well as the views of developing country stakeholders from each of the dialogues.
