Trade Liberalisation and Children: Understanding and Coping with Children's Vulnerabilities
Abstract
This briefing considers how trade liberalisation affects child welfare, using information from the Young Lives program in Peru and Vietnam. It is suggested that poor, marginalized, and disempowered households are least likely to participate in or benefit from trade liberalization policies targeting economic growth, so the children of these households are the most at risk from negative effects.
