Using mathematical modelling to improve our understanding of the HIV prevalence among the “hidden” population of men who have sex with men (MSM) in southern India: Implications for HIV programming.

Abstract

Study to develop modelling approaches for HIV/STI transmission, taking into account three sexual identity subgroups of men who have sex with men (MSM). The research is based on survey data from southern India. The poster presentation demonstrates that the “hidden” MSM population, although at lower risk of HIV infection, has the potential to act as a key bridging population in the context of the wider HIV epidemic.
