Water law, water rights and water supply (Africa): Zambia - study country report

Abstract

The objective of project R7327 was to identify (and promote awareness and understanding of), the constraints and enabling conditions provided by existing water laws (statutory and customary) with regard to the poor having access to, or being entitled to, a safe and reliable supply of water and sanitation facilities. This report for Zambia covers the policy and statutory legal framework for water (and sanitation), nature and status of customary water rights and water supply and sanitation provision, and the impact of water law and water rights on supply and sanitation provision/access for the poor.
