Working Paper No. 79. Kyrgyzstan in Crisis: permanent revolution and the curse of nationalism
Abstract
This paper examines the background to the crisis in southern Kyrgyzstan in June 2010 from both an analytical framework of state fragility and from the perspective of the rise in politicised ethnicity and nationalism. The paper draws widely on the author's interviews and field observations undertaken in Kyrgyzstan in 2009 and in summer 2010.
