Security Services Group
The Security Services Group (SSG), a business unit within the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), provides specialist electronic and physical security advice, compliance. assurance and services to areas of the public sector that require the highest levels of security protection. SSG is the government’s provider of expert design, installation and maintenance of the highest accredited security systems using both “in-house” produced products and those commercially produced and approved for use on the government estate.
Comprising of around 230 civil servants and based at locations throughout the UK and overseas, SSG’s services are provided to the most sensitive Defence and Government sites. On the Defence estate, this includes the Royal Navy at Naval Bases Clyde, Portsmouth and Plymouth (including ship-based systems), Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO), Defence Scientific and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), Strategic Command (STRATCOM), Defence Digital in the UK and operational location overseas, including Gibraltar, Cyprus, Germany, Nepal, Belize and the Falklands.
Across the wider government estate, SSG also provides its services to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Home Office, 10 Downing Street, Parliament, the Royal Residencies, Border Force and the Security Agencies in the UK and all other government departments and agencies at locations overseas. SSG also supplies services to UK National Critical Infrastructure.
What do we do?
- provide subject matter expertise on electronic and physical security requirements
- design, install and maintain security systems for MOD and other government departments (OGD) in the UK and overseas including support to military operations
- ensure quality assurance and compliance with standards of installed systems for the Directorate of Security and Resilience (DSR) and DIO Regional Delivery and Major Programs and Projects (MPP)
- in-house development of the highest accredited security systems
- provide MOD and the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) compliant security furniture.
