Linguistic data community

The Linguistic data community exists to:

  • share experience and best practice of analysing linguistic data in public sector settings
  • develop and disseminate best practice guidance and quality assurance
  • provide a safe and supportive knowledge sharing environment for staff from government, public sector and other organisations
  • enable members to share ideas, review code and outputs
  • allow members to discuss practical implementations of linguistic data projects and infrastructure
  • champion and facilitate professional development and networking
  • promote and support innovation with a focus on quality assurance and alignment with standards
  • provide relevant information on the adoption and use of linguistic data
  • discuss relevant analytical methods to inform strategic development

Who the community is for

The community is for anyone with an interest in linguistic data who works in government, public sector or not-for-profit organisations.

You do not need to have experience of Natural Language Processing, AI or similar methods.

You might be interested in this community if you:

  • want to build skills to analyse or process text or audio data
  • hear from other people working on linguistic data projects
  • want to maintain or update your skills
  • are developing guidance for your organisation or department
  • are horizon scanning and want to hear from others doing it

Get involved

The community meets fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons.

To join the community, please join the Government Data Science channel on cross-government Slack
