Glencore group of companies
The SFO launched an investigation into suspected bribery offences at the Glencore group of companies in 2019.
Glencore is a multinational commodities trader and mining company. Its oil and gas operations are based in London.
On 24 May 2022, the SFO charged Glencore Energy (UK) Ltd with seven counts of bribery, contrary to The Bribery Act 2010. The charges related to bribes paid by Glencore agents and employees worth over $25 million for preferential access to oil, with approval by the company.
On 21 June 2022, Glencore pleaded guilty to all counts and was ordered to pay £280 million in penalty and confiscation of the proceeds of crime.

21 Jun 2022 – Glencore Energy (UK) pleaded guilty to all counts.
24 May 2022 – Glencore Energy (UK) charged with seven counts of bribery to face Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday 21 June.
