Combat Stress

Combat Stress is a mental health charity that provides support for veterans of the UK armed forces, focusing on complex mental health issues resulting from service.

About Combat Stress

Combat Stress provides intensive mental health treatment service to veterans of the UK armed forces, including the Merchant Navy and reservists not on operational tour.

Support is available in-person, either in the community or through outpatient appointments, as well as online.

Their specialist treatment is generally provided Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm, but some support, such as peer support, is provided outside these hours. Support staff are based in hubs across the UK.

Additionally, their free, 24-hour, seven-days-a-week helpline provides confidential mental health advice to all former military personnel, as well as families and carers. They can provide emotional support, a listening ear, self-referrals into their clinical services and signposting to other veteran organisations.

The aim of their work is to treat veterans’ symptoms and improve quality of life.

Self-referrals can be made by telephone and professional referrals can be made online.
