Defence Medical Welfare Service

The Defence Medical Welfare Service is an independent charity providing medical welfare to those who are serving or have served on the frontline, including the armed forces, the Merchant Navy, the NHS and the Police.

About the Defence Medical Welfare Service

The St. John and Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) offers a comprehensive and confidential medical welfare service to patients, their immediate family and primary caregivers and healthcare professionals involved in their care. They operate within NHS trusts, as well as recovery centres across the UK and Cyprus.

They support wounded, injured and sick patients while under hospital care.

They also help employers of the armed forces, emergency services and healthcare workers demonstrate their duty of care obligations, contributing to a swifter discharge from hospital, a quicker recovery for the patient and an earlier return to work.
