Tell HMRC when you change your address
Use this service to update your address for:
- Child Benefit
- Income Tax
- National Insurance
- State Pension
- tax credits
There’s a different way to update your details for business tax.
You need to wait until you’ve moved before telling HMRC about your new address.
This guide is also available in Welsh (Cymraeg).
Before you start
To update your address, you’ll need to sign in to your personal tax account.
If you do not have a personal tax account
You can create a personal tax account when you sign in for the first time.
You’ll be told when you sign in if you need to prove your identity. This is to keep your details safe and usually involves using photo ID like a passport or driving licence.
You can also use your personal tax account to check your HMRC records and manage your other details.
