Track your driving licence application
Provisional licence applications with an ‘FP’ reference number
If you’ve already made an online provisional driving licence application you can use this service to:
- check the progress of your application
- upload a new signature
- change your contact details
Track and manage your application
You’ll need to provide:
- your application reference number - this was emailed to you after you applied, and will start with ‘FP’ followed by 10 letters (for example, FPAB-ABCD-ABCD)
- addresses where you’ve lived over the last 3 years
- your National Insurance number
- your UK passport number
You’ll normally get your licence one week after you applied online. It may take longer if DVLA needs to make additional checks.
If your reference number does not start with ‘FP’
You’ll need to use different services to track:
- full and provisional driving licence applications with a 14 digit reference number
- applications to renew a 10 year old photocard licence with a ‘TY’ reference number
