Terms of the internship
The intern will have a unique opportunity to:
- Get familiar with a diplomatic service and understand how international development aid works in practice;
- Learn about and support the Embassy’s project funding work in Serbia, including gaining insight into key thematic policy areas;
- Meet national and international stakeholders relevant for supporting Serbia in its reform processes.
Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The intern will be involved in the following areas of Programme Delivery:
- Assist the team in project funding administration work, including monthly and quarterly reporting as needed;
- Support the coordination of the Embassy’s Programme meetings, ensuring project documentation organised in a timely manner;
- Research on key thematic areas, including gathering relevant data and analyses to support project and policy work;
- Participate in internal and external meetings relating to donor coordination and project implementation;
- Support the team preparing comms on project successes, for social media or other outlets.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
No previous work experience is necessary. Strong candidates will have a demonstrable ability to learn quickly and have a grasp of, and interest in, the core concepts of international politics and development aid, project management, and/or working with civil society. Applicants must be fluent in the English and Serbian languages, both oral and written.

Salary
The internship is a voluntary educational experience, therefore no salary will be provided. However, the intern will receive a small travel and subsistence stipend of €15 per day net worked. Corresponding social security contributions will also be paid. The internship will be on a full-time basis, although reasonable efforts will be made to support an alternative working pattern if the successful applicant requires (and provides justification).

The internship will be on a full-time basis.
The intern will have some access to UK Government formal and informal training opportunities and will be encouraged to make use of their internship to develop a wider set of personal skills.
The internship will not offer the possibility for extension or for permanent employment. Nor does it guarantee eligibility for a UK visa, nor the opportunity to receive one free of charge. The embassy will retain the right to terminate the internship at any time, due to dissatisfactory performance or conduct; serious breaches of security or the reasonable suspicion thereof; or a significant change in the embassy’s operational needs.
Applicants must be 18 years or over and eligible to register with the local Youth Association. They also must not have a criminal record or be subject to a criminal investigation. Background security checks will be made on the successful applicant.
