Our mission is to support the Governor and Commander-in-Chief in carrying out his constitutional role and duties as His Majesty’s Representative in Gibraltar.

The Governor has special responsibilities for the conduct in Gibraltar of:
- external affairs
- defence
- internal security
- certain functions in relation to public offices
The Office of the Governor also supports dialogue between His Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar and His Majesty’s Government in the UK on a range of issues, to further develop the modern partnership between Britain and Gibraltar.
Services for British nationals and visitors
As Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory, services for British Nationals in Gibraltar are the responsibility of HM Government of Gibraltar. The Civil Status and Registration Office deal with marriage and civil partnerships, passports, Visas, ID cards and Civilian Registration Cards, legalisation of documents, as well as the registration of births and deaths in Gibraltar.
