The British government is an inclusive and diversity-friendly employer. We value difference, promote equality and challenge discrimination, enhancing our organisational capability.
We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, veteran status or other category protected by law. We promote family-friendly flexible working opportunities, where operational and security needs allow.
Staff recruited locally are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law. Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Belgium and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
All appointments are made on merit following the recruitment process, including interviews and security clearance. We consider all applications and invite a selection of candidates for interview. Only those selected for interview will be contacted. Interviews may include questions on competencies, behaviours, experience, abilities and technical skills relevant to a job, as well as a short practical exercise testing specific skills required for each role.
Opportunities are also regularly advertised on our Twitter feed.
Internships
The UK Missions in Belgium offer paid internship places which are advertised openly on our careers website. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.
We do not offer any exclusive arrangements or ad-hoc agreements with any academic institution or similar organisation for the provision of internships, which would exclude other eligible candidates from accessing the advertised opportunity.
