Silence Twister, G-TWIS

Summary:

During a “fairly steep, throttle-closed” approach to Runway 25 in fine weather, the pilot reported that his airspeed was slightly lower than required and that the aircraft was “heading too close to the end of the runway”. After applying a little power and commencing the flare, the aircraft touched down heavily on the right landing gear which then collapsed. The pilot considered that his inexperience on this aircraft type contributed to the hard landing.
