Call for evidence description
Call to Evidence British Sign Language - 1
On Tuesday 5 September, the Minister for the Constitution launched a Call for Evidence, asking for views on how people with disabilities experience registering to vote and voting itself.
Responses to the Call for Evidence will:
- enhance the government’s understanding of the experiences of disabled people in registering to vote and casting their vote
- help identify if current mechanisms to support disabled people to participate in the democratic process are sufficient
- identify examples of good practice provided by Electoral Service Teams to disabled people at elections
In partnership with the members of the Cabinet Office Accessibility Working Group, which includes the Royal Mencap Society, Mind, RNIB, Scope, United Response, NHS, the Association of Electoral Administrators, the Electoral Commission and Scottish Assessors Association, the government will review the evidence it receives and produce a report of key findings and recommendations.
You can download the Call for Evidence in an accessible word document (thank you to RNIB for advice on this document) and Easy Read format (thank you to Mencap for advice on this document).
