Coastguard safety information: search and rescue

A collection of safety information for those using the coast, beaches and sailing.

Personal information gathered by our coastguard teams during an emergency response will be processed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in order to facilitate and coordinate rescues, preserve the safety of life and to enable the MCA to carry out our public task.

In certain rescue circumstances it may be necessary for us to share your data with global search and rescue authorities and those delegated authorities such as UK police and other UK 999 services, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Marine Accident Investigation Branch.
