About

These economic estimates are official statistics used to provide an estimate of the contribution of DCMS sectors to the UK economy, measured by imports and exports of goods and services. Trade in tourism is estimated by spending by overseas residents in the UK and spending by UK residents overseas as proxy measurements for exports and imports.

All estimates on this page represent the latest version according to updates in methodology.

Included estimates:

DCMS releases estimates for trade in goods and services based on two data sources:

  • Estimates of exports and imports of goods constructed from HMRC Overseas Trade Statistics, which use international classification codes; Commodity (or CN08) codes
  • Estimates of exports and imports of services by businesses constructed from ONS official statistics using international classification codes; Standard Industrial Classification (or SIC) codes

For information on how these estimates are produced please see the relevant technical report for each release
