Infected Blood Interim Compensation Payment Scheme
This page provides guidance and forms for applying for an interim compensation payment.
Estates of deceased infected beneficiaries
If you’re representing the estate of someone who was registered with an Infected Blood Support Scheme or an Alliance House Organisation Scheme you could be eligible to claim a one-off interim compensation payment of £100,000. You can only claim if no interim compensation payments have already been made to the person, their estate or their partner. Applications for these payments opened in October 2024.
Living infected beneficiaries or bereaved partners registered with one of the existing Infected Blood Support Schemes
If you’re a person who is infected and eligible to register with one of the existing Infected Blood Support Schemes, you may be eligible for up to £310,000 in interim compensation. The first set of interim payments (£100,000) began in October 2022, the second set of interim payments (£210,000) began in June 2024.
If you’re a bereaved partner who is eligible to register with an existing Infected Blood Support Scheme, you may be eligible for £100,000 in interim compensation. These payments began in October 2022.

The government recognises that not all people impacted by the infected blood scandal will be eligible for interim payments. Interim payments are in place whilst the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme is established.
