Apply for interim compensation as the estate of someone who has died after receiving infected blood.

Use this form to apply for an interim compensation payment of £100,000. Compensation will be paid to the estates of deceased infected beneficiaries who were registered with an Infected Blood Support Scheme (IBSS) or an Alliance House Organisation Scheme on or before 17 April 2024.

We regret the confusion caused for applicants with a valid chain of representation. Applications supported by a valid chain of representation will be accepted by the Infected Blood Support Schemes.
Before you start
You’ll need a certified colour copy of one of the following:
- a grant of probate
- a grant of confirmation or confirmation ad omissa/ad non executa
- letters of administration
In some cases these are in black and white, a black and white certified copy will be accepted
You’ll also need to include:
- proof of your identity by providing a certified copy of your passport or driving licence
- 2 documents proving your address, for example a bank statement or utility bill issued in the last 6 months
Chains of representation
Applications supported by a valid chain of representation will be accepted. If you have a chain of representation, and are applying for compensation read our guidance on how to apply for compensation with a chain of representation
If you do not have probate, or if you’re not sure if it’s already been granted, find out about applying for probate or confirmation. You might be able to claim back the costs of applying for probate.
Where to send the form
Send your compensation application form and certified colour copies of your supporting documents to the IBSS in the part of the UK where the person who died was infected.

What happens next
You’ll receive confirmation your form’s been received by email or letter, depending on your communication preferences.
You’ll usually get a decision on your application within 30 working days from the date it’s received. It may take longer if the scheme needs to contact you for further information or contact the countersignatory who verified your documents.
