The Committee’s Standards Matter 2 review examined the institutions, processes and structures in place to support high standards of conduct. The final report of the review, Upholding Standards in Public Life, was published on 1 November 2021.

The Committee's Findings

The Committee has published findings ahead of its final report, due later this year.

Correspondence between the Prime Minister and Lord Evans on the Independent Adviser

Lord Evans and the Prime Minister exchanged letters on the powers and remit of the Independent Adviser. Lord Evans first wrote to the Prime Minister on 15 April outlining our recommendations for the reform of the role.

Online Evidence Sessions

As part of its Standards Matter 2 review, the Committee will be hearing from witnesses in online evidence sessions, which will be livestreamed via our YouTube channel.

Public Consultation

The Committee is running a public consultation as part of this review. The consultation asks for respondents’ views on current principles, institutions, and arrangements for upholding standards.

Polling and Focus Group Research

The Committee commissioned Deltapoll to undertake polling and focus group research for this review, with additional analysis provided by Martha Radford Kirby, in collaboration with Professor Mark Philp.

Public Sector Survey

As part of our Standards Matter 2 review, the Committee on Standards in Public Life wants to hear from those working in the public sector. We want to know what you think about the culture, policy and practice in your organisation towards standards.

Academic Roundtable

As part of its Standards Matter 2 review, the Committee held an academic roundtable on 1 April 2021 to take academics’ views on the current principles, institutions, and arrangements for upholding standards in the public sector.
