The UK and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)
Business guidance, treaty information and other documents to help you understand the UK’s accession to the CPTPP.
The UK will accede to CPTPP on 15 December 2024
From 15 December 2024, UK traders will be able to trade with the following Parties under CPTPP:
- Japan
- Singapore
- Chile
- New Zealand
- Vietnam
- Peru
- Malaysia
- Brunei
This is because those Parties have ratified the UK’s accession to CPTPP.
From 24 December 2024, UK traders will be able to trade with the following Parties under CPTPP:
- Australia
Canada and Mexico have not yet ratified the UK’s accession to CPTPP, therefore UK businesses will not be able to trade under CPTPP with these Parties until they do so.
When a CPTPP Party ratifies the UK’s accession to CPTPP, the agreement will be ready to be applied with that Party 60 days later.
We’ll update this page when each Party ratifies the UK’s accession.
The CPTPP is a Treaty incorporating, by reference, the provisions of the original Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) signed on 4 February 2016 in Auckland, New Zealand, with certain provisions suspended. The CPTPP text, setting out the incorporations and suspensions, can be found on the website of the Depositary, New Zealand. The UK’s Protocol of Accession to the CPTPP can be found on this page.
