Send water discharge monitoring data to the Environment Agency
How to complete a water discharge return.
Some water discharge activity permits require holders to monitor the quality of the effluent being discharged, and return details of the results to the Environment Agency.
The ‘generic operator returns’ (GOR) system lets you send this monitoring return data online.
The water discharge returns part of the system was originally introduced to support ‘operator self monitoring’ by the water utility companies. But you can use it to send a variety of environmental monitoring and compliance sampling data to the Environment Agency.

Water discharge returns file format: XML schema
The XML schema defines the data format required by the GOR system. A technical guidance note and example file are provided to help generate your own XML file. You will also need to refer to the spreadsheet of picklist values.
