Consultation description
The Appropriate Assessment of Blocks applied for in the 29th Seaward Licensing Round has now been issued for public consultation. In view of the consultation taking place over a holiday period, the normal 6-week consultation period has been extended to 8-weeks.
Following the announcement of the 29th Seaward Licensing Round by the Oil and Gas Authority, an initial screening assessment (including consultation with the statutory agencies/bodies) of 1,261 Blocks offered was published in November 2016. The screening identified a number of whole or part Blocks as requiring further assessment prior to decisions on whether to grant licences under the 29th Round, should they be applied for. Applications were received covering 113 whole or part Blocks, and of those, a number in the northern North Sea and Mid-North Sea High areas are subject to Appropriate Assessment (AA).
